Old Hunstanton Beach
Distance from Flock Cottage: Approximately 2 miles
Old Hunstanton is one of the closest beaches we recommend to guests. Famous for its striped cliffs, historic lighthouse and west-facing coastline, it's one of the best places in the country to watch the sunset.
Unlike many Norfolk beaches, Old Hunstanton offers a unique landscape where dramatic cliffs meet wide sandy shores. The beach is dog-friendly throughout the year, making it particularly popular with guests visiting North Norfolk with their four-legged friends.
Nearby, you'll find excellent places to eat and drink, including The Ancient Mariner Inn or The Lodge Hotel, both ideal for a post-walk refreshment. Alternitively if you are looking for a cocktail and tapas vibe you may find yourself trying out Sofia’s or The Olive Grove, both new to Hunstanton.
Perfect for: Sunset walks, dog owners, photographers and families.
Holme-next-the-Sea
Distance from Flock Cottage: Approximately 4 miles
If you're looking for a quieter stretch of coastline, Holme-next-the-Sea is a hidden gem on the North Norfolk coast.
Bordered by dunes, salt marshes and nature reserves, Holme offers a more peaceful beach experience. The expansive sandy beach feels wonderfully unspoilt, while the nearby Norfolk Wildlife Trust reserve attracts birdwatchers from across the country.
Located within the Holme Dunes National Nature Reserve this is a favourite for people looking for a wild and peaceful Norfolk beach, surrounded by salt marshes, dunes and coastal wildlife. It’s also a brilliant spot for birdwatching and nature walks, with many rare species spotted here throughout the year.
The walk across the dunes to reach the beach adds to the sense of escape, making it feel far removed from busy tourist spots.
The village itself is charming and home to The White Horse and it’s award winning bakery, which we definitly reccommend trying.
Perfect for: Nature lovers, birdwatchers, peaceful beach walks and wildlife spotting.
Brancaster Beach
Distance from Flock Cottage: Approximately 5 miles
Brancaster is one of the most popular beaches in North Norfolk and it's easy to see why.
At low tide, the beach stretches seemingly forever, creating vast open spaces perfect for long walks, beach games and exploring the shoreline. The beach is easily accessible from the car park, making it a popular choice for families and older visitors or older pooches who cant walk to far.
The surrounding area is also renowned for its local produce, particularly Brancaster mussels and fresh seafood.
After a day on the sand, many visitors head to The White Horse at Brancaster Staithe for marshside drinks or The Jolly Sailors for relaxed food with coastal views.
Perfect for: Families, accessible beach walks, dog walking and big Norfolk skies.
Holkham Beach

No guide to North Norfolk beaches would be complete without Holkham.
Often listed among the most beautiful beaches in the UK, Holkham is famous for its endless sands, rolling dunes and pine-backed shoreline. The sheer scale of the beach creates a feeling of wilderness that is increasingly hard to find elsewhere.
Many visitors recognise Holkham from films and television, but nothing compares to seeing it in person. Whether you're walking along the shoreline, exploring the dunes or simply soaking up the views, Holkham never fails to impress.
Nearby Holkham Hall and its estate provide additional opportunities for walking, cycling and wildlife watching. It has an amazing childrens play area too.
