Welcome to the Flock

We’re so happy you found us!

Meet your hosts..

We're Harvey & Sophie, and we're very happy to have you here.

Having grown up in Norfolk we have both spent many years exploring our beautiful coast and countryside, nowadays together alongside our two pooches, Hendricks and Chester.

We've always loved going away for a few days ourselves; that feeling of arriving somewhere new and knowing you've got a few days ahead of you to explore, relax and enjoy a change of scenery.

Our own self-catering stays have given us so many happy memories, and we wanted to create somewhere where others could have that same opportunity to escape for a few days.

That’s really where the idea for Flock Cottage came from..

We wanted to create somewhere that gave people that same feeling- the excitement of having somewhere new to discover, but with the comfort of a place that feels like home.

Our cottage

A rustic brick and pebble stone house with a red tile roof, white-framed windows, and a white door, featuring a potted plant in front and a brick chimney against a blue sky.

Lovingly restored and tucked away in the village of Ringstead, in Hunstanton. Flock Cottage is a two-bedroom mid terrace self-catering cottage just two miles from the North Norfolk coast.

It is thoughtfully designed to celebrate the connection between land, sea, and wildlife. The inspiration for our interiors came from what surrounds this beautiful cottage- open countryside, wildlife, the coast and the changing landscape between the two.

Soft colours, natural textures and playful little details bring those influences into the cottage in a way that feels fun, relaxed and timeless, for all ages. We wanted just enough to make you feel that you're somewhere a little different!

For us the location is what makes Flock Cottage so special. It provides you with the best of both worlds: the tranquility of being slightly inland and the convenience of close proximity to Norfolks most beautiful coastal destinations.

You get the cottage, but you also get the location.

We didn't want it to feel overly themed or like a traditional seaside holiday cottage. Instead, we wanted it’s surroundings to be felt throughout the space.

Why flock?

A bedroom with a bed featuring red pillows, a beige tufted headboard, and a wooden nightstand. The wall behind the bed has sander wallpaper with eleysian geese, and there's a framed picture of clouds hanging on the plain white wall.

When we set out on our cottage journey, we had absolutely no idea what we were going to call it, naming it was alot further down on our list. Our priority was to first breathe some love into the place and make it the lovely, welcoming cottage that it is today.

All we knew was that whichever name it would come to be, it would need to be timeless, memorable and a something a little different.

A short time into the rejuvenation of the cottage, as the rooms began taking shape, I was drawn outside one day to a chorus of excited calls coming from somewhere in the distance, I headed to the garden, looked up and waited, and there they were- countless pink-footed geese, flying in formation across the sky, right over the cottage. It was wonderful.

As I headed back inside having watched them pass, the thought of “Flock Cottage” fleeted me.

The idea was floated and over the following weeks, and we both began to notice the geese morning and evening commuting from their resting grounds to their feeding grounds. Their calls became part of our days at the cottage, and watching them fly overhead quickly became one of our favourite things about being there.

So the more we thought about it, the more Flock Cottage felt like it belonged here.

Flock for the beautiful flocks of pink-footed geese that arrive in Norfolk each autumn, and flock to the beach in summer, when our guests would be heading to the coast to enjoy everything this wonderful part of Norfolk has to offer. We also knew what a wonderful place our little cottage was going to be for birdwatchers and twitchers, with it’s open countryside, wildlife and some of North Norfolk's best nature reserves all close by.

Flock Cottage became more than just a name. It became a little nod to the fact that there is always something happening here, whatever the season. It felt as though Norfolk had chosen the name for us.

Self run

Flock Cottage is self-run, which is something that's really important to us. There isn't a big team behind the scenes, it's just us. Every booking is a name and a story, never just a number.

We prepare and maintain the cottage ourselves, manage our own guest communications, curate the guest experience, maintain our online prescence and are always on hand if you need us.

Since we first began welcoming guests in March 2025 we have been so grateful for the lovely reviews, repeat stays and recommendations that we’ve received ever since.

We hope that our personal touch comes through in the little details, from the way we prepare the cottage to the way we look after our guests.

It's our little corner of Norfolk, and we put a whole lot of care into making it somewhere we would want to stay ourselves.

Between us we keep the whole flock flying!

We believe that everyone deserves a proper break, and that a holiday shouldn't have to feel out of reach.

Dog people

We couldn't create a cottage in North Norfolk without making it dog friendly.

We love dogs, and we know that a few days away is often better when they can come too. Flock Cottage is dog friendly, with thoughtful touches for four-legged guests and plenty of wonderful walks and beaches to explore nearby.

We believe that being dog friendly means welcoming dogs and responsible owners while also respecting the cottage and it’s future guests.

We've added the little things that make bringing your dog easier, from towels and treats, to poo bags and a water bowl. Plus our guest’s receive an exclusive discount on timeless dog accessories, handmade here in Norfolk.

We have a few simple house rules to keep Flock Cottage comfortable for everyone -dogs included.
